Next week on April 29-May 1st in Chicago, Illinois, thousands of healthcare providers, clinicians, business professionals and leaders from a variety of health and technology sectors from around the world will gather for the annual American Telemedicine Association (ATA) 2018 Conference and Expo to network, share ideas, and highlight new technology advances. There will be more than 100 sessions and unique hands-on learning opportunities, as well as 150 exhibiting companies presenting emerging technologies and other industry innovations in the enormous McCormick Place Expo Hall.
With so much to look forward to and so many opportunities, it can be overwhelming deciding where to even begin.

CareDash is one the world’s leading providers of doctor reviews. They are redefining the healthcare review industry as an online resource offering comprehensive, transparent information about physicians and hospitals. CareDash empowers all patients — regardless of their socio-economic status — to find trusted healthcare providers through an easy-to-use, 100% honest review website focused on hospital and provider experience, quality and satisfaction.
Headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, CareDash was launched in 2016, after CEO and Founder Ted Chan noticed two troubling trends: healthcare provider review sites tended to cater to and attract patients of a higher socioeconomic status and many existing sites accepted financial compensation in exchange for removal of negative reviews. Driven by a commitment to address these problems, Chan set out to make CareDash the most reliable and informative healthcare provider review site of its kind.
What’s unique about CareDash: They are here to ensure that every patient feels informed and confident making important decisions about their health. In addition to useful provider information and unfiltered reviews, CareDash presents complex healthcare information and data in a comprehensive and easy-to-understand manner. Biometric Signature ID, based in Dallas, Texas, is the leading developer of biometric ID verification software solutions using multi-factor authentication (MFA). Their premier product, BioSig-ID™ is a patented software-only biometric password that uses gesture-based biometric technology for identity verification online. This revolutionary software offers the highest level of security on the market today—a biometric—without the need for dedicated hardware.
Uniquely privacy-friendly and non-invasive, BioSig-ID requires no scans of body parts. Its gesture technology is dynamic, so passwords can’t be lost, stolen or borrowed. BioSig-ID™ uses only a mouse, stylus or finger to log users in and offers multi-factor authentication that goes beyond the ID and password, requiring two of three things to validate your identity: something you know (like a password or PIN), something you have (like a phone or a USB) or something you are (a biometric like your iris, fingerprint, or BioSig-ID™’s patented gesture biometric which lets you draw your password).
What’s unique about Biometric Signature ID: BioSig-ID™ can be used anywhere, anytime, on any device. Users create a unique biometric password using just a finger or mouse that imposters cannot replicate. Unlike other biometrics like fingerprints, BioSig-ID™ gesture biometrics do not require any installation on the end-user’s computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. Once a user has registered their profile, their identity can be authenticated any time or place (unlimited authentications) with full audit trail reporting. Whether it’s securing banking transactions, safeguarding healthcare records, gating exams or multiple quizzes, or online purchases, BSI helps organizations to control risk, reduce fraud, manage security and maintain compliance.
Jintronix is transforming rehabilitation by providing an innovative, accessible and value-driven model for the delivery of physical and occupational therapy. Combining motion tracking, virtual gaming and remote clinical monitoring, Jintronix provides a way to use video games to help heal people.
The FDA-cleared platform uses hardware from the Xbox Kinect, which enables the patients to play the games without a controller or any attachments to the body. The games’ designs are relatively simple, but they get the patients to exercise by extending their range of motion and switching their balance just like they would in physical therapy with one notable difference–it’s fun. Since 2012, Jintronix has helped over 5,000 patients in post-acute facilities and from the comforts of their own living rooms.
What’s unique about Jintronix: The games make the physical exercises fun and help the patients to engage in what is normally a grueling task. Often after a few sessions, the patients are excited to come back and do more. As they play, the software assesses their progress and is able to graph that information. This helps the therapists to pay closer attention to the patient’s progress. To quote one of the patients featured on their website, “Taking what is otherwise boring rehab and putting a twist on it so it’s not boring anymore is wonderful.”
